Amphitheatre was originally constructed in 1965, to mark St. Augustine's

State Park, the St Augustine Amphitheatre was built at the site of the
old St. Augustine FL quarry where coquina rock was harvested and used to
construct the Fort Castillo de San Marcos. Our St. Augustine Bed and

Amphitheatre. For more than 32 years, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre
performed the "Official State Play of Florida," the Cross & Sword
production, which told the story of the European settlement and founding
of St. Augustine by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles. The show ended in 1996
and the St. Augustine Amphitheatre underwent extensive restoration in
2002. Since 2002, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre has welcomed numerous
artists to its stage including Art Garfunkle and Boston Concert.
 The primary objective of the St. Augustine makeover was to increase its
seating capacity. In addition to holding up to 4,500 concert goers, the
renovations included four concession stands, merchandising area, grand
plaza, arboretum, walking trails and conference room.
